Train sushi. Shhhh, there is Chardonnay in my new flask.

Mini Beard Papa. Amazeballs.

Sushi. Felix ate 33 maki rolls.

Tuna maki rolls.
Picture
Corn pottage. Notice the stripy plate. No wasabi on these suckers.

Matcha ice cream.
The best sushi bar in Kyoto. It's in the station. Of course. Apart from shrines and temples 90% of Kyoto is in the station. Over three levels. That don't connect unless you go out of the station. Only in Japan.

Best instant noodles. UFO noodles.

I heart Japanese sandwiches.
Posh supermarket in Kyoto station.

I can't tell you what was in these Bento boxes. Sam ate all his but Felix and I are still to be convinced. Ricky had 'Sweat' water as he's had a bit of a gall bladder episode.

Felix's weird chicken.
Picture
Sam's weird omelette.
Picture
My weird low cal box. Under 400 calories. I probably ate about 200.

Felix and Sam had a Subway sandwich for lunch but didn't take a photo.. Felix's favourite - teriyaki chicken. He wasn't so much bothered that it wasn't the same as in England but that Sam wouldn't let him have a foot-long.

Shibuya
Picture
Double Quarter Pounder with Cheeso.... That's Japanese.
Shibuya is like a Thursday night on Oxford Street before Christmas. It's mad. We had to have more fast food to get over it.
Picture
Felix finally found a handle he could reach. This is his nonchalant Salaryman commuter pose.

Picture
Traditional Japanese style.
Picture
Or chicken and chips. Natch.

Picture
Sam regularly has a Family Mart tea. I can see why.
Picture
Melon flavour and filled melon cake. WTF?

Breakfast.

Shepherd's Pie.

More English pub food. Tiramisu.
So. Lunch. David Bowie style. Apparently. The Cardinal 'English' pub in the Sony Centre has a Bowie themed menu. I drank Sam's Guinness. Which is what the man himself drinks with his Shepherd's Pie. Apparently. Felix's jet lag meant he only wanted something sweet. Tiramisu. Of course. But Sam's Japanese is so good the waitress got chatty and somehow we ended up with two Tiramisu 'sets'. Which means you get a drink too. Felix had some sugar in a cup with a dash of tea.

The locals noodle bar.
Day one dinner time. Only noodles will do. Thank goodness for Sam as this place had no English at all.
